OO BOYS WHITE WIN AT CREEK CLASSIC

00 Boys White Win at Creek Classic

The boys only gave up 2 goals during group play and won their first game 4-0, played to a 1-1 draw in the second, and won their third game 5-1.  Giving up only one goal in the third game was crucial, because the team we tied with gave up 2 goals in their third game which was the final tie breaker putting us through to the championship game.

In the championship game, we trailed most of the game going down 1-0 early, and then tying it up 1-1, then going down 2-1 right before halftime.   Coach Pat Chittendon made a great decision at halftime and moved some of the boys around from their normal positions, and it paid off.  The boys knocked in the tying goal about 10 minutes into the second half, and then with about 8 minutes left in the game they got the game winner, finishing with a 3-2 win.

INCREDIBLE COMEBACK NETS CHAMPIONSHIP

Down 3-0 at halftime, The Fishers Soccer Club 99 Girls Red began an incredible comeback that led to victory in the LISC Premier Tournament in Champaign, Illinois on May 8th.

As the coaches kept yelling “just one goal at a time,” the team responded with its first score with only 17 minutes remaining in the game.  A few minutes later, it was goal two. Then came a shot in the corner of the net to tie it.
The cheers from fans on the sidelines were so raucous, parents from other teams began to make their way to the field to watch the comeback for themselves.

With just a few minutes left, Fishers netted yet another goal making it 4-3.
But, instead of trying to hang on for the victory, the girls kept pressing and made it 5-3 just 10 seconds before the final whistle.
The rally capped a comeback that their experienced coaching staff agreed was “unlike any they had ever seen.”

“It’s a true testament to heart of this team that they refused to give up even after facing insurmountable odds,” said trainer Whitey Kapsalis.
The phenomenal comeback would not have been possible had it not been for another impressive win in the semifinals.

A 2-2 tie at the end of regulation and two overtime periods meant penalty kicks would have to decide which team would head to the finals.  The teams had to shoot 10 penalty kicks each before FSC’s rock-solid goalie stopped the final try by their opponent, sending Fishers to the championship.

FSC PLAYERS ATTEND COLUMBUS CREW GAME

On August 20th, 2010, over 20 FSC players met in Columbus, Ohio, to watch the Columbus Crew play the Colorado Rapids. Before the game, players and coaches were taken to the field for an inner squad scrimmage. Four teams were formed and the coaches took a few shots at the goal on the MLS field. One field was split with U8 and U9 boys and the other with U10, U12 and U14 boys and girls.

The Crew won 3-0 and are leading their division. It was a great opportunity for young FSC players to get the feel for an MLS field. Over 50 tickets were sold and 16 FSC families were represented. A little rain in the second half did not dampen the spirits of the fans!

At the Crew!
