Weather Guidelines

 

Severe Weather

In the event that severe weather is projected ( i.e. National Weather Service issues Watch or Warning ) the following guidelines are in effect for our recreational and travel teams.

Practice

  • Practice for recreational teams will be cancelled.
  • Travel practice may be held.  The Cumberland Park site coordinator will monitor for lightening with the lightening detector.  In the event that lightening is detected:
    1. Practice will be cancelled immediately.
    2. All players and training/coaching staff will report to and get inside vehicles until everyone has been picked up.
    3. OneCall message will be sent to travel teams informing families that practice has been cancelled.

Game

  • FSC site coordinators will monitor the weather conditions.
  • The Cumberland Park site coordinator will monitor for lightening with the detector.  In the event that lightening is detected:
    1. A OneCall message will be sent.
    2. The Air Horn will be sounded.
    3. All games will stop and all players and training/coaching staff will report to and get inside vehicles.  Spectators will be asked to do the same.
    4. No game will be resumed or a new game start until no strikes are detected for 30 minutes.
  • Site coordinators will have list of games for the day and will determine if games will be cancelled or played.

 

Extreme Cold

In the event that the local air temperature or windchill index dips to or below 45° Fahrenheit the following guidelines are in effect for our recreational and travel teams.

  • Site coordinator will determine if games need to be suspended.
  • FSC will notify teams of practice and game status via OneCall system.
  • FSC will update the weatherline.

46+ No Change
45 and lower Additional clothing allowed during games; refer to "Cold Weather Guidelines" listed below for clothing guidelines
40 and lower Shorten games and practice
35 and lower Suspend/cancel games and practice

Extreme Heat

In the event that the the air temperature rises to or above 80° Fahrenheit the following guidelines are in effect for our recreational and travel teams.

  • Site coordinator will determine if games need to be suspended.
  • FSC will notify teams of practice and game status via OneCall system.
  • FSC will update the weatherline.

Below 80 No Change
80+ Monitor players for dehydration
85+ PRACTICE: Shorten + additional breaks   GAMES: Will be played, extra water breaks suggested
